New York, oh wow.

So this post is overdue. I never thought I would ever go to New York. Ever. But just before Christmas I was lucky enough to finally visit the City that never sleeps. I can honestly say I have never crammed so much into 3 days ever, and even though I was exhausted when I returned home it was so, so worth it.
The excitement building between me and my uni friends for this trip was ridiculous and the only thing getting us through our crazy work load last term.

As soon as we arrived we started to explore the area around, I literally was in awe at everything and was constantly snapping photos of the most silly things that I found fascinating. Naturally we spent our first full day exploring 5th Avenue, spending my well saved dollars. I have never seen a department store as huge as Macy's, it was insane. We also had breakfast at the famous Stardust Diner, which was strange as everyone was singing whilst I was eating, I had never even heard of it before, the food was amazing though!

On our second day we managed to visit Ground Zero, (which was extremely emotional),  look around Soho, go on the Staten Island Ferry, march up The Empire State Building and go ice skating at Central Park (which was everyones highlight of the trip!). It's safe to say we were all knackered that night! Every moment was so surreal, especially standing at the top of The Empire State Building, it was just the most incredible view in the world and I believe that it is something everyone in the world has to see at least once in their life!

Our last day was just spent wandering around Times Square catching up on last minute shopping and taking in the sights one last time. However, it was pouring with rain all day, which made us grateful for the dry weather and so we finally said a dreary goodbye New York.

Highlights of the trip: Empire State Building; probably the most amazing thing I've ever done. Ice skating at Central Park on our last night, who wouldn't love this?! Getting lost with Tiff and getting a bike taxi, I can't believe we actually made it back to the hotel! Getting my morning Starbucks bagel, why do American bagels taste so much better than British ones?

I'm going to leave you with two of my favourite quotes about New York.

"The true New Yorker secretly believes that people living anywhere else have to be, in some sense, kidding."
-John Updike-

"You are from New York, therefore you are just naturally interesting."
-Hannah Horvath- (HBO Girls)
